How to backup and install PufferPanel 1.0.0

  • So heres an unofficial guide of how I transitioned from PufferPanel 0.8.6 ( to PufferPanel 1.0.0 on Ubuntu 16.04

    First I ran this:

    tar -zcvf homedirarchive.tar.gz /home

You need to make a backup of home, where PufferPanel servers are installed.
You can use scp to transfer the files from your VPS to your computer by using this command:

    scp root@{your-vps-ip}:/homedirarchive.tar.gz ~/Desktop

For Mac users, that will make a backup of your server files to your desktop. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this on Windows.

After you've reinstalled Ubuntu you can follow the PufferPanel guide and manually upload your files again. However, you have to manually recreate the servers from the panel.
