main Socket.IO error.

  • Hello, I've just gotten home from school to notice all my servers are down, when I try to boot them back up I get this issue https://gyazo.com/5c1db6afe6443d44cb3f2d43d0feac38
When I go to https://panel.aggregationpvp.com:5656/ It fails to connect.
Anyone able to assist me? Thanks.

  • did you click the link to re accept the SSL certificate?

  • Hey Pilchard, it looks like the Daemon is running fine. However from what I can tell you haven't accepted the Certificate as valid (hence the Socket.io error).

A quick and easy fix is to get a proper certificate from LetsEncrypt and use it instead as it will help avoid this issue in the future.

Here's a set of commands you can run to do it (you should be able to copy/paste it as long as you're running Ubuntu):

    sudo su
    cd /srv/scales/
    ./scales stop
    mv /srv/scales/https.pem /srv/scales/https.pem.bak
    mv /srv/scales/https.key /srv/scales/https.key.bak
    apt-get install letsencypt
    service nginx stop
    letsencrypt certonly -d panel.aggregationpvp.com
    service nginx start
    ln -s /etc/letsencrypt/live/panel.aggregationpvp.com/fullchain.pem /srv/scales/https.pem
    ln -s /etc/letsencrypt/live/panel.aggregationpvp.com/privkey.pem /srv/scales/https.key
    ./scales start

If you have any issues let me know and I'll be happy to help out.

Are you able to update us on whether the above steps were helpful?

  • Hello, sorry for the late reply, just got back off a trip to Western Australia, I didn't have any internet while I was there.

+Phlupp - It wouldnt let me.

+ScottStevens - Thanks so much! it's gone well with these commands, didn't expect the fix to be that simple aha

Great to hear! You can also use the certificate you have to secure your PufferPanel install (making it use HTTPS) which is strongly suggested. This will enhance security on the site which is important (in my opinion)

  • While I'm here, do you know any plugins or a tool I can use to make the server auto restart every 4-5 hours?

  • @pilchard2002

If you stop a server via a plugin/script outside of Scales and PufferPanel then the daemon will automatically start the server back up believing that it crashed. This applies to Minecraft and SRCDS games. Unfortunately for the time being there isn't a CRON-type or schedule-based event manager for PufferPanel so this is the only way to do so.
